About
Biography
Kristy Volesky is a national strategist and recognized leader in career and technical education, known for helping schools, colleges, and communities design systems that connect student learning with long-term economic and community vitality.
Her experience spans local classrooms, state leadership, and national strategy. Kristy previously served in leadership at a state department of education, where she oversaw work-based learning, business education, career and technical education, and education-business partnerships. Earlier in her career she worked directly with students and employers as an educator and program coordinator, giving her a practical understanding of how strong systems must function from the classroom to the community.
Today, Kristy works with schools, colleges, state agencies, and national organizations across the country to strengthen alignment between education, business, and community priorities. Her work focuses on helping partners move beyond isolated initiatives toward strategically aligned systems that expand opportunity, strengthen talent pipelines, and support long-term regional prosperity. Kristy serves on ACTE’s Work-Based Learning Policy Team and co-facilitates a national collaboration network through the Coalition for Career Development Center focused on advancing high-quality career planning and work-based learning.
She is the author of Transformational Work-Based Learning: Leading Exceptional Internship Programs and co-author of CTE Reimagined: The Blueprint for Education’s Future, two works that challenge traditional approaches and offer practical strategies for building stronger talent ecosystems.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in business education and a master’s degree in organizational leadership. Known for her ability to bridge strategy and implementation, Kristy helps leaders turn bold ideas into systems that deliver lasting results for students, communities, and local economies.
